xSeriCon’s Vizop Successfully Deployed in Four-Week HAZOP and LOPA Workshop for PTT Thailand

Bangkok — 29 July 2026 — xSeriCon today announced the successful deployment of its Vizop HAZOP and LOPA software during a four-week process safety workshop for PTT Thailand, supporting the revalidation of a HAZOP study and a new LOPA assessment for a gas processing plant.

The project provided a real-world opportunity to use Vizop continuously throughout an intensive engineering workshop, including the management of an existing HAZOP study and a LOPA assessment covering more than 100 Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs).

“The real test for a PHA software is what happens when engineers rely on it every day during a live workshop,” said Dr. Peter Clarke, Founder & Managing Director at xSeriCon. “This project gave us the opportunity to put Vizop through exactly that test, while also giving us valuable feedback on how we can continue to improve the product.”

Streamlining HAZOP Revalidation

The PTT Thailand project involved the revalidation of a HAZOP study for a 20-year-old gas processing plant. Rather than rebuilding the study manually, the existing HAZOP worksheet was transferred into Excel and imported into Vizop, including existing recommendations.

The project also required a new LOPA study covering more than 100 SIFs. Existing SIF information from the previous Risk Graph-based study was imported into Vizop, including sensors, final elements, initiating events, consequences of failure and Independent Protection Layers (IPLs).

This allowed the project team to build upon existing engineering information while reducing repetitive data entry.

Connecting HAZOP and LOPA

One of the key productivity features highlighted during the project was Vizop’s ability to connect HAZOP safeguards directly with LOPA studies.

Vizop can use information from a HAZOP safeguard to create or update a SIF and automatically populate available information such as causes, consequences, sensors, final elements and IPLs.

The team could also navigate directly from a LOPA scenario back to its related HAZOP scenario.

For a project involving more than 100 SIFs, these capabilities helped reduce the amount of manual information transfer between the two studies.

Designed for Rapid Development and Continuous Improvement

The project also demonstrated an important advantage of Vizop’s online architecture.

Because Vizop is cloud-based and operates through a web browser, xSeriCon was able to implement fixes and improvements during the workshop without requiring users to install a new software version.

Several minor fixes and feature improvements were deployed during the four-week project in response to feedback from the workshop team.

“Real projects are one of the best ways to develop better engineering software,” said Dr. Clarke. “When users encounter a problem or suggest an improvement, we can respond quickly. That feedback loop is a fundamental part of how we develop Vizop since day one.”

Real-World Feedback Driving Further Improvements

The workshop also identified areas for further development, including additional filtering capabilities, improvements to navigation and increased server reliability.

Vizop’s automatic saving functionality helped protect project data during periods of server instability, while the development team continued working on improvements to the underlying infrastructure.

The experience reinforces xSeriCon’s development philosophy of “Make it easier to do things right” by continuously improving Vizop based on real-world engineering requirements.
